About the event

Introduction to Couples and Relationship Therapy

Have you been thinking about the love you want and the love you are getting in your relationships?

This workshop is aimed at students, psychotherapists, counsellors who are interested to learn more

about couples dynamics, how all of us have our way of being in relationship and how we bring ourselves

and take part in dynamics of relationship. We would be talking about importance of different

relationships in our personal growth and development and how it affects us when in a couple.

Our models of love from early youth, adolescence are often based on power struggles. Most people

carry that model into their adult relationships, consciously or unconsciously. We also bring in the

learned ways of behaving from our parents and their marital relationship as a measure of how it should

be or how we would never want it to be, without having time to reconsider what our way is and how

our relationship and marriage can be different.

Both man and woman in relationship want to be satisfied, happy, lovingly connected and close.

Being married, living together with another human being, puts us in a situation where all our unresolved

situations from our previous life, early youth begin to surface and dramatically disturb our ideal image of

marriage and what that marriage was supposed to bring us. And downfall starts with a firm

determination not to disturb that picture. And the struggle for supremacy and control starts without us

even seeing the one next to and in front of us with whom we share life. And that is the moment when

two, as a team that chose to live together, have a chance to grow together.
